\nNous sommes en 1979. Selon la l\u00e9gende, \u00e0 l’issue d’un match d’I.P.S.C., une poign\u00e9e de tireurs am\u00e9ricains discutent armes entre eux. Ils en viennent \u00e0 parler du film de Sam Peckhinpa \u00ab La horde sauvage \u00bb et leur vient alors l’id\u00e9e d’organiser un match avec des armes de type Western (revolvers simple action, Winchester et fusils de chasse), \u00e0 la fa\u00e7on de l’I.PS.C.
\nLe premier concours \u00ab Cowboy action shooting \u00bb voit donc sa r\u00e9alisation en d\u00e9cembre 1979, environ 25 tireurs s’amusent dans une ambiance des plus d\u00e9tendues et il est d\u00e9cid\u00e9 \u00e0 l’issue de se retrouver trois mois plus tard pour une autre rencontre de ce type…
